Confidentiality is essential to our counselling relationship. By law and professional ethics, our sessions together are strictly confidential. Information will not be shared with anyone without your written permission. If you are seeing another therapist or have seen one in the past, it may be necessary for me to contact this person so our efforts can be coordinated. If this is necessary, I will contact this person only if I have your permission. In order to provide you with the best possible care I will at times confer with a colleague who is bound by the same laws and professional ethics which require strict confidentially regarding our counselling sessions together. There are a few exceptions to confidentiality such as the reporting of intent to harm yourself or others. These will be discussed during our first session together.
