Counselling Approach

I believe that human beings are holistic beings with many integrated aspects and therefore our physical, emotional and mental health can affect all areas of our lives. In therapy I will work with you to become more aware of how life struggles are impacting your life and address this as holistically as possible. I will endeavor to tailor your therapeutic experience to best meet your needs and personality.

I believe my belief system has an impact on how I think, how I see our world and how I view people. I would like to share some of my core beliefs so you will know more about me and my beliefs. I believe that God is the Creator, Sustainer and Redeemer of the world. I believe that the Bible is the word of God and is God’s truth. I believe human beings were created by God and should be treated with dignity and respect. I believe it is important to respect the values of others and as such I will not force my own values upon you. Please feel free to ask me about my beliefs, background, qualifications or any other concerns you may have.

I believe counselling is a collaborative effort that requires commitment from both counsellor and client. I am committed to your counselling process, but your success in counselling largely depends on your commitment and motivation to change. The counselling journey is not always easy and I am committed to supporting you as you talk about your thoughts, feelings and issues in your life. I believe life is a journey. Your journey is unique and your path toward change will be unique. It is important to establish goals for your counselling journey and we can work together to help you achieve your goals. Working toward your goals requires effective communication between client and counsellor. If at any time you have questions about the counselling process, our sessions or would like to clarify goals, please do not hesitate to bring this up in our sessions.
